Progress continues around the planning process for the Western Campus of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) to be located in Morganton, with numerous meetings and planning sessions to be held during the month of May, and the launch of a new online dashboard to share details and milestones of the new campus.

Members of the Core Planning Team are participating in two meetings during the month of May to draw tighter definition around the site location and the framework for the educational program vision.  Members will be on site in Morganton on May 4 for a series of meetings that will be hosted at the North Carolina School for the Deaf. Later in the month, the Core Planning Team will reconvene at Duda|Paine Architects on May 15 to continue their deliberations.

As the advance planning process marches forward, a key upcoming milestone is the May 26 meeting of the NCSSM Board of Trustees. During this meeting, leaders are cautiously optimistic that a recommendation will be presented on the site location of the new campus. The project managers will also present an update to the Board of Trustees on the evolving educational program.
